How does it work?

We are able to backup large amounts of data efficiently offsite through the internet by incorporating encryption, compression and delta technology.

Enterprise customers also gain access to advanced data deduplication technology and industry-leading online data backup security features.

Backup Encryption

All backup data sent to our servers is encrypted with a key that you specify before it leaves the computer.

In no circumstance can CyberSecure read your files or data, so bear this in mind as we will be unable to help if the backup key or password is lost or forgotten!

Compression

All offsite backup data stored is compressed, so not only do you pay for what you use, you pay for how much data that compresses down to. On average, files containing mostly text will compress down to around 20% of their original size.

Delta Technology

The delta technology used means that only the changes between backups are sent to CyberSecure servers. This is very light on the bandwidth used and means that backups finish quickly.

Compare this method of backing up versus tape or hard drive backup that can take hours to backup the same amount of data, and those technologies don't keep previous versions.

File Retention Technology

Every time an offsite backup takes place, all changes to the backup are retained, including deletions and modifications to files. Previous versions of offsite files can be easily be restored by selecting the date of the backup. The space used for retention history is counted against total offsite quota size and an unlimited amount of history can be retained.

This is a key feature that online backup naturally provides and one which is not found in tape drive systems.

Deduplication Technology

Included in the enterprise appliance versions of CyberSecure backup is data deduplication technology. This technology greatly reduces the amount of storage capacity required by combining identical blocks of data, such that repeated data is not stored multiple times.

Subfile Level Deduplication Technology

By only storing identical parts across files, we can efficiently store large amounts of similar data at maximum efficiency with minimal storage overheads.
