CyberSecure Advanced - What to do if your backup is being missed

  1. Check the backup schedule on the client software configuration - has it been configured to run at the specified time?
    1. Start the CyberSecure Backup program
    2. View the backup sets by clicking on the gear icon

    3. Select the backup set that isn't running from the drop down box
    4. Select 'Backup Schedule'
  2. Check that the "Run backup on this computer" checkbox is ticked.
    • This checkbox can be found in the Backup schedule window.
  3. Check through the web interface that the computer name matches the client configuration.
    1. Open the CyberSecure homepage
    2. Enter your login username and password in the fields at the top of the page
    3. Click the 'Backup Set' option in the menu at the top of the page
    4. Select the backup set that isn't working from the drop down list
    5. Scroll down to the 'Run scheduled backup on computers named:' field
    6. Right click on 'My Computer' ('Computer' in Windows Vista) which is either on your desktop or start menu
    7. Chose 'Properties'
    8. Select the 'Computer Name' tab
    9. Check that the 'Computer Name' field matches the 'Runs scheduled backup on computers named' field exactly.
  4. Ensure that your firewall isn't blocking the backup client
    The CyberSecure backup client needs internet access for the following executables:
    • aua.exe
    • auaJW.exe
    • CDPService.exe
    • bJW.exe
    • bschJW.exe
    • Scheduler.exe
    • SystemTray.exe
    These executables can be found in the directory at: C:\Program Files\CyberSecure Advanced\bin\
  5. Check that the scheduler is running. Restart the service if it is running.
    For Windows XP and Windows Vista:
    1. Control Panel -> Administrative Tools-> Services -> Online Backup Scheduler
    2. Right-click and choose "Restart"
  6. Uninstall the current version of the backup client.
    1. Open Control Panel
    2. Double click on 'Add/Remove Programs'
    3. Scroll down to the CyberSecure backup client
    4. Click 'Uninstall'
  7. Delete any C:\Program Files\CyberSecure* directories.
  8. Remove the client-side cache + configuration directory:
    • XP + 2003
      • C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\.obm
    • Vista + 2008
      • C:\Users\[username]\.obm
  9. Install the latest version of CyberSecure from our website.
    • Ensure that you choose "Already have an account" when first loading the software.
  10. If the above does not work, zip and then send us the software logfiles.
