Restoring Exchange data from Shadow Protect
Prerequisites
- Ontrack PowerControls
- Latest Microsoft Outlook
- ShadowProtect
- Encryption password
- Mount the relevant ShadowProtect volumes from your backups. You need to know:
- The date/time you want to restore from
- The volume with your Exchange Database (edb file)
- The volume (if different) with your Exchange log files. If you use multiple volumes ensure each volume is from the same snapshot
- Run Ontrack PowerControls
- Click File > Open Source…
- Select EDB File (*.edb) as your source. There are 3 paths you need (see below)
- EDB Path – path to the edb file from your mounted backup
eg. E:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 1234567890\Mailbox Database 1234567890.edb
- Log File Path – path to your exchange log files. This may be on a different volume
eg. E:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\Logs\MessageTracking\
- Temporary File Path – path to where you want to store temp files

- Once it’s loaded, right click on the account you want to restore and click Export…
- The mailbox will be exported to the pst file you specified
